Deep discounts offered on adventure cruises

AdventureSmith Explorations, which matches adventure-seeking tourists with touring ships, is offering $1,000 U.S. discounts per guest (based on double occupancy) on five sailings of the Alaska Island Spirit Cruise if you book by April 30. The company is also offering 25 per cent off on its Realm of the Polar Bear trip, with savings of up to $1,925 U.S. per person (based on double occupancy), if you book by April 28.

The $1,000 discount applies to bookings on the 32-passenger Island Spirit. Its nine-day cruise stops at Alaskan villages that include Tenakee Springs, Baranof Springs and Petersburg. The cruise plies the summer feeding ground of humpback whales, departing from Sitka or Petersburg from June through August.

If you feel like sailing farther north, there are 25-per-cent savings on eight-day voyages with weekly departures in July for the Realm of the Polar Bear Arctic cruises aboard the 124-passenger M/S Expedition, also represented by AdventureSmith Explorations. A per person (double) rate is available from $3,999 U.S. (not including the discount) for a cruise above the Arctic Circle to the remote island of Spitsbergen (within the Norwegian Svalbard archipelago) and into icy landscapes frequented by the world’s largest land carnivore – the polar bear.
