After a post-GFC slump, Alaska is back on the small ship cruise menu. Local boutique cruise operators have reported a surge in enquiry with several laid-up vessels urged back into service. Faces fell with the exit of long-time operator, Cruise West, but the slack has been quickly taken up. Local specialist, Todd Smith, expects many to sell out. “Travel is rebounding and with the State of Alaska doing more marketing, demand is up,” he said.” We are shaping up for a record season.” Smith has a wide selection of vessels from 12-60 passengers on his books, plus plenty to do ashore. www.adventuresmithexplorations.com
