Custom Peru Adventure

"I enjoyed all of it, but the highlights were in/around Cuzco (adding the extra days there was great), staying in the San Blas area in Cuzco (Hotel Andina was nice as well), the Sacred Valley tour and of course the pinnacle, Machu Picchu. All accommodations were excellent choices, allowing us to enjoy the people, surroundings and culture wherever we stayed. I especially loved the Sol y Luna Hotel and Inkaterra Lodge.

Go with AdventureSmith Explorations and take the work out of your hands to make it happen. It is well worth the money to let AdventureSmith handle the details. I would definitely add extra time in Cuzco, like we did."

"Better than imagined and dreamed. The knowledge of our guide Leo and the organization and planning that went into the trip for our family of 11 was excellent.  Hotels and amenities were top of the line. Machu Picchu was breathtaking!  I am glad we experienced it at the end of our trip - like the cherry on top!  What a sacred place and a once in a lifetime opportunity. I cannot believe how good we ate!  Loved the quinoa soups, chicken, and pisco sours!! Our guide Leo was incredible! So passionate and knowledgeable - we could really feel his love and passion for his country and people.  He was patient, funny, kind, honest, professional and personable.  We all felt a connection with him we wish we could bring him to the U.S. and give him a tour in return.  We cannot thank him enough - honestly.

Transportation was amazing!  When we arrived anywhere they were there waiting for us.  We never sat around or had to worry about how to get from place to place.  I am spoiled now and can't imagine my next trip without the transportation set up in advance for me.  The best part was we never felt like we wasted anytime.  We were always on the move from one adventure to the next!

AdventureSmith’s Andrew Browning was key to making this wonderful and well-planned trip come together flawlessly.  Thank you for all the planning and translating too!  A trip not ever to be forgotten!

Advice to future travelers: Bring extra cash - most bills will not be accepted in Peru unless they are absolutely flawless.  Take it easy the first day or two in Cusco because of the altitude, and do not drink the water!"

“Our most favorite hotel was the Pueblo in Aguas Calientes at the foot of Machu Picchu. It was luxurious, with a fireplace, two showers (one inside and out), robes and slippers, and other nice extras. Our principle guide in Cusco was very savvy when it came to trying to educate us about the marvelous accomplishments of the Inca, and their naturalistic philosophies. We were given a bottle of red Peruvian wine when it was discovered that it was my birthday. Our guide in Puno was also very knowledgeable. She helped us with the long trek up in Taquile and even cooked fresh trout for us! The vehicles were very comfortable with excellent drivers. One in particular always went out of his way to be helpful, including cooking lunch for us on one of our outside adventures and keeping an eye on my wife when she stayed behind from a hike. Certainly someone you could depend on.

“Colin & I just want to thank you for all your help planning our trip to Peru.  We had a fantastic, unforgettable time from start to finish.  Explorandes was incredible, and we felt very taken-care-of throughout the trip.  In particular, the Lares trek was an amazing experience that was the highlight of our time in Peru.  Our guide Holger and the rest of the crew were wonderful and made us so comfortable.  We will never forget the scenery, the people and the food as well!  Regardless of our slight altitude sickness, we enjoyed every moment.  Refugio Amazonas was fantastic, as was the train trip to Puno and our stays in Cuzco, Arequipa and Lima.  It is a wonderful country.

“Machu Picchu, the Inca sites in Cusco, and the sacred valley were awe-inspiring.  Inkaterra was our favorite lodging.  They were very hospitable and the hotel had great grounds and nice layout.”

Inca Trail Trek

The actual trek was what we enjoyed most. The guide, Angel was terrific and the porters/ cooks provided outstanding service! I have been on three other tours in South America and Angel was/is the best!! Both hotels we stayed at were excellent with superb staff.  I have always wanted to trek the Inca Trail, and this was a fabulous fulfillment of a dream. I had a fantastic, outstanding trip! Thanks to Chris Harter and the AdventureSmith Company.
