Exclusions
Airfare; immigration fees; transfers between San Jose and Quepos or Puerto Jimenez; pre-cruise accommodation; select fine wine and spirits; extensions; crew and guide gratuities; scuba diving (approx. $250 per person for 2 dives in 2024 & 2025); Advanced Provisioning Allowance, e.g. estimated food, fees, fuel, gratuities, etc. (charters only); and insurance of any kind.
Payment & Cancellation
In order to confirm this trip, a deposit of $1,000 ($2,000 for single occupancy) is required per person at time of booking. The balance of the trip price is due 90 days before the departure date. Special payment and cancelation terms may apply for holidays and group booking 3 cabins or more, inquire for details. Guests who must cancel their trip for any reason must do so in writing. Standard cancellations are subject to the following per-person fees, based on number of days prior to departure:
Up to 91 days – 50% of deposit
90 to 60 days – 100% of deposit
59 to 0 days – 100% of total trip cost

This trip is subject to AdventureSmith Explorations Terms and Conditions. Please read this information carefully and call us if you have any questions. A Traveler Information Form, which includes a release of liability, must be completed and signed by all travelers. Your Adventure Specialist will send you a unique link to complete this form along with a packing list and extensive pre-departure and travel insurance information upon booking confirmation.
Arrival & Departure
The 5-day southbound Kontiki Pura Vida cruise begins Quepos (XQP) ends Puerto Jimenez (PJM). Plan international flights to arrive to San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) ahead of Day 1 of the itinerary, as embarkation is at 4 pm on Day 1 in Quepos, which is best reached via a domestic flight. Disembarkation is after breakfast on the final day of the outlined itinerary. Plan flights to depart San Jose no earlier than 8:00pm on the final day, or plan on an overnight in San Jose. Activities
Whether you are looking for light activity options or more challenging outdoor pursuits, the ship’s crew can tailor most excursions to suit your skill level. Adventure activities may include rendezvous diving (added cost with all gear provided by third party, see Exclusions), hiking, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, inflatable boat/skiff excursions, photography, cultural tours, land treks and wildlife observation.
Room Configuration
Select double-occupancy cabins may be available for single occupancy at a special single rate—see Rates & Dates for details.
Families & Children
Children 5-12 years old at time of travel receive 15% off the double occupancy rate (applies when sharing a cabin with one or two adults, or when two children occupy an interconnecting cabin). For individual bookings, it is recommended that children be at least 6 years old. Child discount still applies during holidays.
