You have questions.
We have answers.
Choose the Alaskan Story for a service-oriented, Alaskan-born team who’s ready to share their state and their stories with you. And for a yacht expertly designed for charter cruising in the wilds of Alaska, featuring comfort, small touches and heated social areas throughout.
Alaskan Story History
This Westport yacht was designed with 60 years of charter operations in mind. Owned by a dedicated couple for over 30 years, the Alaskan Story yacht was turned over to three lifelong Southeast Alaskans who are thrilled to share Alaska with the ship’s new and repeat guests.
Onboard Facilities
The Alaskan Story yacht features a beautiful teak interior, with cozy and inviting spaces that interconnect to foster camaraderie. A shared restroom is easily accessible on the Main Deck, alongside the galley, saloon and dining area. The onboard battery banks allow generators to be kept off at night, enabling more peaceful sleep and wildlife visits.
Dining, Saloon & Bridge
The Alaskan Story yacht features an open galley uncommon to most ships, with stainless-steel appliances, a countertop made to prep and serve, and plenty of picture windows. Enjoy interacting with the onboard chef as homemade specialties come to life in this inviting space that resembles your home kitchen. The aft of the ship is where fresh dishes are enjoyed, in an enclosed dining area heated with an oil-burning “woodstove” plus a 270-degree view. Salmon, halibut, shrimp and crab are featured on the day’s menu when your fishing efforts are rewarded.
The saloon feels like your home living room, with comfortable couches, large view windows, and entertainment options including books, music, movies and a Bose Sound System. The Top Deck pilothouse offers additional room for watching television, reading and relaxing.
Safety Equipment
The ship’s safety equipment goes beyond minimum requirements, and has the highest rating. First aid and other medical supplies are well stocked, including an AED and the engine’s automated fire suppression system. A backup navigational system, 48-mile radars and automatic satellite location technology ensure the ship always stays on course.
Activities & Fishing
Experiencing wild Alaska is central to the agenda for every departure aboard the Alaskan Story yacht. As such, she is equipped with gear for active off-ship exploration. For a water-level excursion, consider paddling right from the swim step via one of the two tandem kayaks or stand-up paddleboards.
The yacht also carries a 17-foot Boston Whaler, used for most excursions; a 12-foot rigid-bottom inflatable dinghy acts as a back-up. These tender vessels make it easy for guests to access the shore, as well as fish for salmon, halibut, crab and shrimp. However, the aft of the yacht provides seating for fishing right off the boat, allowing everyone to stay together when desired, while also satisfying the anglers in the group. Most fish is prepared during your cruise, however the crew can help vacuum seal items to ship home as desired.
Crew & Guides
The Alaskan Story’s crew of four includes a captain, first mate, chef and cabin steward. Every crew member is certified in first aid and CPR, and they all bring years of experience working in and owning Alaskan hospitality businesses. The ship’s co-owner/operator acts as both first mate (working toward captain) and your naturalist guide.
Cabins & Alaskan Story Deck Plan
The Alaskan Story yacht features 4 staterooms of equal size: A starboard twin room, starboard queen room, port twin room and port queen room. The two forward rooms each have two floor-level twin beds, while the two aft staterooms each have a walk-around queen bed. Each stateroom is equipped with an ensuite bathroom with shower, plus individual temperature control and plenty of closet space.
