IT Specialist
Kiel came to the AdventureSmith team with a diverse background. From working in fuels and communications repair for the military to handling tech work for Apple, Kiel likes helping at the intersection of where people and computers meet. “Making complicated things work in a seemingly smooth fashion is wonderful. I have always had a bit of a tech bug in me.”
He credits his tenacity and perseverance as being hallmarks of his career in IT. “Sometimes you come across an issue that is super easy to deal with and it’s fast. Other times you will be stumped and have to really dig in. You also have to know when to ask for help.”
Kiel’s skills extend beyond computers too. When he has time, he enjoys leather crafting and sewing, and likes to do graphite drawings of people and places.
He originally hails from Brownsville, California, and now has laid roots along the Feather River, just north of AdventureSmith’s Truckee office. His travels include much of the United States, Mexico and Europe. But he’s excited to expand his travel resume “anywhere and everywhere” alongside his husband.
With his AdventureSmith role, Kiel most loves his crew of coworkers—and doing something that enables travelers to make a real connection with the world around them that they miss in the day-to-day humancentric world.
