This award-winning, women-owned property is nestled along Carlo Creek, easily accessible from the Parks Highway via private car or pre-arranged local shuttle (including the nearby train depot). An onsite gift shop offers locally crafted items to remember your trip by. A creekside pavilion welcomes overnight and daytime visitors with a BBQ grill and picnic facilities, plus a grassy area to enjoy corn hole and board games. The firepit alongside Carlo Creek is stocked and ready for evening camaraderie among newfound friends.
The experienced and thoughtful staff of McKinley Creekside Cabins can help arrange a variety of nearby tours and excursions. The options are endless, from park tours by bus and Jeep, to nearby geocaching by ATV, kennel visits, rafting, fishing, guided hiking, flightseeing and ziplining. The staff is known for their hospitality and are also ready to answer questions and help you maximize your Denali experience.
Dining
The Creekside Cafe & Bakery serves up hearty portions of home-cooked comfort food (including bagged lunches) in a casual atmosphere. Locals and visitors appreciate the award-winning breakfast, lunch and dinner served during the property’s summertime operation, complete with a full bar for curated wine selections, Alaskan craft beers and signature Creekside cocktails. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options are always available. And the bakery turns out fresh treats, breads and crackers every day.
The breakfast menu is adorned with classics including breakfast burritos, eggs, pancakes and oatmeal, plus specialty baked goods such as strawberry rhubarb coffee cake and the Mt. Denali cinnamon roll (order Texas-sized or Alaska-sized). Lunch options range from salads to soups, burgers, sandwiches, fish and chicken tenders. And dinner adds specialty apps like the Alaskan sampler of halibut, smoked salmon and reindeer sausage, plus seafood entrees and house specialties like Grandma Emmi’s Meatloaf.
Accommodations
McKinley Creekside Cabins offers a variety of lodging options to accommodate families, groups, couples and solo travelers. Common to all lodging is a private ensuite bathroom with toiletries and a hairdryer; a kitchenette with mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker; individual heating and a ceiling fan; and complimentary WiFi. Note that most rooms do not provide or telephone or TV.
Rooms: The McKinley Creekside Cabins property offers two buildings with hotel-style rooms: the Homestead Lodge and the King Terrace. Each of the 13 Comfort Homestead Lodge Rooms is equipped with two queen beds for up to 4 guests, plus a private covered balcony and TV. For more room, the 6 King Terrace Lodge Rooms each have one king bed (for up to 2 guests), a private covered deck and the chance to unplug with no phone or TV; each room offers a unique layout.
Waterside Cabins: The Signature Creekside Cabins are ideal for couples, with a child-free policy and the absence of a phone or TV; instead, enjoy your 48-square-foot private covered deck overlooking Carlo Creek and the mountains. The Creekside King standalone cabin adds a king bed and TV, but is smaller.
Additional Cabins: The Family Cabin offers extra space as a standalone one-room cabin (one double bed and two queen beds) for up to 6 guests, plus a 64-square-foot covered deck with wilderness views. And a selection of Individual Cabins are ideal for two adults or a family with one child (two queen beds), with a private covered deck serving entertainment in lieu of a phone or TV.
Homes: The Carlo House sits a 5-minute walk from the main McKinley Creekside Cabins property, and offers three bedrooms (one king and three queen beds) for up to 8 guests. The house has two bathrooms, a washer/dryer, kitchen, living room, sauna and firepit. The smaller Carlo Guest Cabin has two bedrooms (one king and two queen beds) for up to 6 guests, plus two bathrooms, a washer/dryer, kitchen and living room. And the Carlo Loft is a studio apartment with one king bed for up to 2 guests, plus a bathroom and kitchen.
