Mansion del Rio is a premier boutique hotel in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The hotel was built in 1926 under the name of Villa San Antonio and its restoration started in 2007. The landmark property where the hotel is located as well as most of its neighborhood, Las Peñas, was purchased in 1920 by Manuel Tama. Later, it was acquired by a wealthy businessman from the UK who came to Ecuador representing the South American Cable Co. Everything needed for this construction and the finishing elements were imported directly from Europe. Over time, this property was purchased by prominent families of Guayaquil, retaining its original name of Villa San Antonio.
