Explorer Hotel

The Explorer Hotel, in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, is the largest hotel in Northern Canada, with 187 guest rooms, comprehensive food & beverage services and conference facilities. The Explorer Hotel is the North’s top hotel destination and is a proud member of the Northern community. This hotel’s aim is to offer modern comforts while existing side by side with traditional ways of life.

Located on a high point in downtown Yellowknife, the spacious guest rooms offer spectacular panoramic views of Niven Lake and Back Bay to the north, and Frame Lake and the Legislative Assembly to the south. The Explorer Hotel was opened in 1974 and since opening, hotel room comfort has been a key objective with continually updated facilities. All rooms have been recently refurbished.

A unique polar bear exhibit allows for a constant reminder of the incredible area guests are in when staying in the Arctic city of Yellowknife. The Trader’s Grill features authentic tastes of the North with locally sourced dishes as well as seafood, steak and pasta. The casual Trapline Lounge offers a pub menu to enjoy by the fireplace.

Each one of the 187 smoke-free rooms feature complimentary Starbucks Keurig coffee, free Wi-Fi, microwave, mini-fridge, safe, water kettle, HD TV, desk, iron, armchair, three-fixture bathroom, hair dryer, iPod-compatible clock radio, media charging station, telephones, pillow-top mattresses and premium bedding. Room service and laundry service are also offered for an additional fee.

The Superior Rooms feature one king or two queen beds and one accessible room is also available. The Signature Suites feature a king bed, living area and kitchenette. The Deluxe Room is a larger room that includes either a king bed or two queen beds. The Aurora Signature Suite includes a king bed, panoramic views, private deck, telescope for stargazing, soaker tub, one and one-half bathrooms, kitchenette and an exclusive package.
