Sustainability at Monteverde Lodge
Monteverde Lodge is a pioneer in recycling and low impact energy consumption in the Monteverde Cloud Forest region, including its solar-heated pool. The community has followed Monteverde Lodge’s example of recycling and lower electrical consumption—thus conserving resources for all of Costa Rica.
Dining at Monteverde Lodge
The creative cuisine of the onsite El Jardin restaurant is a fusion of traditional and contemporary Costa Rican fare. When available, El Jardin Restaurant uses locally-grown herbs and vegetables. Special diets can often be accommodated by informing the server. The bar serves up creative cocktails, like the Jigüiro, with fresh guava juice, rum, triple sec and squeezed lemon. The dining room, with its cloud forest mural, a running stream pond and small waterfall, provides a habitat for riverine birds, reptiles and amphibians.
Activities at Monteverde Lodge
The Monteverde Lodge’s privileged location in the tropical cloud forest enables guests to head off for nearby hiking and bird watching with a naturalist guide, horseback riding, kayaking, canopy walking and zip-lining. The gardens on the property allow guests to experience myriad bromeliads, ferns, orchids and other flora, and are complemented by the butterfly house and hummingbird garden. Guests may borrow a mat and head to the yoga and meditation look out point, to enjoy a self-guided yoga and stretching practice. The hammock area invites guests to relax amongst the tropical forest, and the open fireplace provides a welcoming place to cozy up to at night. The Garden Massage Room provides a relaxing place to unwind even further.
