Sustainability at Nayara Hotel, Spa & Gardens
The hotel design and architecture follows guidelines for the conservation and protection of the environment. Each structure was built using local artisan materials that both support the Costa Rican economy and safeguard its environment. All rooms are equipped with energy-saving key cards that automatically turn off the lights as soon as the guest leaves the room. Water saving is also a large priority, with faucets and showers having flow reducers and aerators that conserve water, and toilets equipped with dual-flush retrofits.
Hotel Nayara creates its own compost using leaves, plants and vegetable discards. And all cleaning products are biodegradable and non-toxic. The property’s recycling efforts start in every room and reach all areas of the hotel. In addition, Nayara supports the community of La Fortuna de San Carlos in cultural, athletic, recreational and conservation activities, including volunteering and donating to “Hogarcito de Ninos,” a home for abused and orphaned children.
