Sicily, Malta & the Aeolian Islands Cruise

History-rich towns and isolated volcanic islands welcome you for this 8-day small yacht Sicily and Malta cruise. Sail round-trip from Malta through the Messina Strait (between the toe of Italy and Sicily) to the stunning Aeolian Islands. The unique and varied peninsulas of both countries offer a natural playground that’s best experienced by a small ship. And this ultimate itinerary aboard the stunning 72-guest Variety Voyager mega-yacht allows you to experience the region in depth, comfort and safety.

Rising out of the cobalt-blue seas off Sicily’s northeastern coast, the UNESCO-protected Aeolian Islands (Vulcano, Lipari, Salina, Panarea, Stromboli, Filicudi and Alicudi) are a little piece of paradise. This seven-island archipelago offers a wealth of opportunities for relaxation and outdoor fun. Witness live volcanos, the highest point in Sicily, and Syracuse, one of the most prestigious cities of the Hellenic World and home to a spectacular 15,000-seat Greek theatre, Temple of Apollo and Temple of Athena.

Stunning waters provide sport for swimmers, snorkelers and kayakers, while hikers can explore hissing volcanoes, history buffs can dive deeper into baroque towns and cathedrals, and gourmets can sip honey-sweet Malvasia wine. Optional activities and sightseeing tours may be added on to your Sicily and Malta cruise at an additional price, or simply enjoy time in port on your own. Call the experts at AdventureSmith Explorations for recommendations on which activities may best suit your travel interests and to book your Sicily and Malta cruise with ease and our expertise.

Day 4
Lipari, Italy

Make a morning arrival in Lipari, the largest of the Aeolian Islands, sitting on the red volcanic rock looking like a “wall of bronze,” according to the Greek poet Homer. Archaeological remains found here have yielded clues to civilizations that date back to 1700 BC, including the Neolithic stones that sit alongside ancient tombstones, and ruins of Greek walls and Roman villas. The Spaniards found their way here in the 16th century, building the Castello (castle) and the 17th century cathedral that is perched above the harbor. All these sights will be available to see on a morning optional sightseeing excursion. Then enjoy an afternoon at leisure as the ship overnights in Lipari.
