North America Alaska Cruise

Alaska Bear Country & Wilderness Expedition

The 8-day Alaska Bear Country & Wilderness Expedition explores Alaska’s Inside Passage between Sitka and Juneau, with a special focus on bear viewing and photography. Explore the Inside Passage’s brown-bear-rich “ABC” islands (Admiralty, Baranof and Chichagof), plus the black bear territory of the Kuiu Islands. On this Alaska bear cruise, an experienced captain watches for wildlife and sets course for select glaciers to view by Zodiac, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.

Highlights include a unique hike to Lake Eva on Baranof Island, plus possible stops at the rarely visited Keku Strait, Red Bay, Totem Bay and the small community of Port Protection. Also unique, a high-speed jet boat from Wrangell brings you to the trailhead of the Anan Wildlife Observatory, known for some of the best brown and black bear viewing in the world. This jet boat ride is an exciting option that’s uncommon among our Alaska family cruises. Enjoy an exclusive visit to Hobart Bay with room for guided hikes, paddles, skiff rides and a campfire with no other visitors in sight.

Passage is aboard the 12-guest Alaska small ship Kruzof Explorer. This former Bering Sea crab fishing boat, constructed to have one of the toughest hulls on the planet, capably explores Alaska’s remote areas and rugged outer coast, offering constant opportunities for Alaska cruise photography. The Kruzof Explorer offers luxury Alaska cruises and is an ideal ship for private Alaska yacht charters due to her small size.
